Sugar quoted America .. The Obama sweet speech
Here is what I heard that other day from Mr. Obama in Cairo: Everyone is happy .. I will say all what everyone wants to hear .. each on his/her individual interests .. Everyone should go home happy and smiling.
I have to admit the handsome dark knight from the white house did a pretty good job in that mission .. and the best yet .. He seems he really does believe what he is preaching.
The issue is that Charm doesn't always make change .. Good wills give nothing but hope. Before he was elected he repeated several times, that he will close Gitmo prison, and he is fighting for that till now, but he never said how?
How is he going to get the budget for the closure?
What is the legal procedure/plan he will adopt?
How long the trials would take?
Is he going to free them all? or transfer them to a prison somewhere up north of the country? How the US going to face legal moves against her claiming compensation?
These are all questions Mr.Obama should answer publicly.
The speech for me was devided to three parts:
Part I: Sweet reasonable talking:
Obama says::: Islam is good, I will personally fight the defamation of Islam, Muslims are part of our American society. Muslims all over the world should change the way they see the US and stop stereotyping. We are good people.
Part II: What am I going to do:
I think this part started with this sentence "let me speak as clearly and plainly as I can about some specific issues that I believe we must finally confront together"
US will face religious extremism .. but will not fight Islam
The US is seeking help in Afghanistan.. The war on Afghanistan was justified on the contrary of Iraq war. Don't forget September11
the US is not interested in Iraq oil and is not looking for any bases in both countries.
Iraq: It was a mistake.. but Iraqis are better off without Saddam
We don't want the oil .. we will be working on alternative energy so we won't need it.
We need your help to fight extremism
Palestinian/Israeli conflict:
Obama::: We do have strong bonds with Israel .. I said it .. happy now?
BUT ... Both parties have to stick to what they agreed on .. Stop the settlements.
yet there will not be peace until Hamas recognize Israel !!! (As if this gonna ever happen)
Nuclear: We are seeking your help to sort things out with Iran
Religious freedom : Minorities are a point of tension in the Arab/American relations
Women right : Hillary is doing a great job pushing that forward
Part III: What Obama didn’t say.. or what we didn't want to listen:
The aid is going to development .. cultural bridging .. No more democracy persue
Democracy is your issue to deal with .. just don’t let your stench reach our nose
We can not go out of Iraq at the moment but we will .. and guess what You should step in
We can not go out of Afghanistan at all at least for the time being
Israel has nuke and we know it .. but please we can not talk about that Now and may be never
I am here to restore America's image .. We need to rule the world with a style
Notes:
-Obama didn't mention the words terror, terrorists, terrorism .. he used another term extremism he said Palestine 3 times .. (THAT IS NEW)
-His scheduled visit was to an Islamic monument and a pharonic one ... as if the Coptic era did not exist .. This only shows the isolation of the Coptic component from the Egyptian culture
-The guy has a dazzling smile .. and a charisma and positive vibes that swept the audience over .. they were ready to listen to whatever he would say from the moment he stepped on stage
